".....Life is more than what meets the eye, Roxy. I know you've seen that already. But what you can't see is what leaves you blank spaces. These are the places where you can fill your own stories in, create your own inspiration. The times when you think you know it all, are the moments where you're only just beginning to scratch the surface."
Roxanne Lipton has always been an artist, able to express her emotions with a pencil, a paintbrush, or a few jumbled, intelligent sentences. She has always been witty and sarcastic. But then something happens. Her best friend's father, the most adored man in town, falls asleep at the road while driving Roxy home, and they go off the edge of a mountain. She becomes a girl suffering from post-traumatic shock. She lives while another dies tragically, affecting the world around her- friends, family, and neighbors. Refusing positivity, Roxy blames herself, she blames the depression she finds looming in her mind and her heart, she blames those around her for giving her medication that never works. She does not know faith or hope.
But suddenly, as if fate and luck twist in her direction, Roxanne is whisked away to an English boarding school for her academic achievements, only to discover there is something darker drawing closer to her that she needs to fight. She finds alliances in the least likely of people, and figures out the mysteries of the flashbacks she's been receiving of what really happened just before that disastrous plunge down the rocky cliff. She paints the lives of those around her, and soon finds that there is a flaw in the way the man everyone loved had died. One curious flaw that leads to another, culminating in yet another mysterious happening. But first she must realize the good in herself before she can take on the truth. For the truth shall set you free.
Where does her heart truly lie? Within an icy cave of grief? Or with the people she loves..?.. |

Hey guys,
Anybody who reads this story must know that under no circumstances will I accept any badmouthing, and if you're not a LJ user, please know that when you post as "Anonymous", you must sign with your name at the end of our comments.
I've only today made my book public, and it's with the part one and part two of the Prologue which I am desperately dying to get past because it's so long and just the necessary tidbits of everything about the character. I have more than 20 chapters on here, but only few more than 5 are fully written, and still need some work. I'll be posting, updating, and everything on new chapters on here and on my myspace. If I don't know you, I won't give you my myspace URL.
ANYWAY, Please PLEASE remember that the Prologue is NOT the best chapter; they get better as they go, and the Prologue was the first thing I ever wrote about the story; and I started this story when I was 13. So, of course it's lengthy and detailed, but hopefully not that boring! The story will definitely get better from this point on. Please leave nice comments (keep it clean or I'll delete/block you and if worse comes to worse, I'll make this friends only, so everyone has to JOIN FIRST).
I KNOW there will be grammar and spelling mistakes; I have yet to actually read through it a million times and pick them all out. Hopefully there won't be too many of those anyway.
I'll have a different song name and artist at the top that matches the theme of each chapter. :) Give you a taste of what I listen to, and kind of like a soundtrack to the book.
UPDATE: Note that this story is meant to be guided toward WOMEN/GIRLS, and is a coming-of-age story. Not to be sexist, but I don't think guys'd like it. BUT, I have another book idea in the process, one that involves the main character to be a guy and yes, plenty more action, more mystery, intrigue, and the deals of sex, drugs, and murder, and then finally, some kind of love. That one will be another project. The ideas for it will be building over the next year, and colliding with this one, "Blue Rose", which is my biggest goal to truly finish by the end of high school. Yes, it may actually take that long to have it completely edited and finished. lol
